Well, the Scattered Life Collective is off to a slow start - so slow, in fact, I was the only one who posted last week! Oh well, that's sort of the point, I guess. People post when they can and there's no pressure when they can't. I do like Cynthia's concept (and the image she created for the group - isn't it pretty?), so I'm going to stick with it for now.
Current time: 5:05 am. Still on the early train when it comes to my waking time.
Out the window: Darkness. Silence. Huge snowbanks.

On the menu: Yesterday I tried a recipe from a cookbook I got for Christmas - Jamie Oliver's 15-Minute Meals. It was delicious and simple. You simply take a pork tenderloin and slice it into medallions, cut a slit in each and stuff it with feta cheese, then wrap each medallion in a slice of prosciutto and fry them in a pan until golden brown. Mmmmm...
The accompaniment was yummo too - thinly sliced zucchini sautéed with garlic, red chilies and mint. I skipped the mint - I always do when I come across it in savoury recipes - it seems a strange addition to me - it reminds me of candies and gum.

Reading: I was intrigued by this blog post by Grace Bonney of Design Sponge about the current state of blogging. As a super-small, newbie blogger, most of what she says does not apply to me, but it is nevertheless encouraging to read that at least one of the bigwigs holds out hope for the future.
Watching: Wallander, a BBC production starring Kenneth Branagh. Like Vera, which I talked about last week, this show is all about its main character. Branagh is outstanding as the troubled, conflicted Swedish cop Kurt Wallander.
The production design is gorgeous, the score is spot on, and it all comes together to form one dark, moody, broody, remarkable piece of television.
Thinking about: I had an odd encounter on Twitter this week. It started with me tweeting a link to an article about Bell Let's Talk Day, to which someone responded, saying that she disagreed with the article. I know this person very superficially, and only online, but our interactions have always been pleasant and cordial. Because I too had written about my experience with Bell's initiative, I replied with a link to my post as a way of contributing my opinion on the subject.
I very quickly realized that in response, this person not only unfollowed me on Twitter, she actually blocked me. I have to admit, I was stunned. I really have no idea what prompted such a strong response, but it got me thinking that people in general need to open their minds a little bit and consider other people's points of view and how they differ from their own, rather than just dismissing people outright. It's okay to have differing opinions, and debating is healthy, but it seems that in our age of 10-second attention spans, people would rather just tune out if they don't agree with something, and I think that's a shame.
Good stuff:
That's all for this week.

Good stuff:
- My cat. He always seems extra cuddly and chilled-out in the winter. We both go into hibernation mode.
- Seinfeld - it is one of my all-time favourite shows, and to this day still makes me laugh out loud, even though I've seen every episode a hundred times. These pretzels are making me thirsty.
- Another Christmas gift, The New York Times Big Book of Sunday Crosswords. These puzzles bend my mind in the most pleasing way. (Plus, there are answers in the back!)
- Only 48 days until the first day of spring. Okay, I'll admit, I had a hard time typing that in a list of GOOD things, but I have to stay positive on that front.
That's all for this week.
